Mounting Tubeless Tires

1. Check the state of the rim. A rim in bad condition, with dents or cracks can be dangerous and should not be used.

2. The rim should be lubricated (with a little soapy water or an approved mounting lube – not with oil or grease) to help make it easier to mount, and especially so that the tire bead snaps into place.

3. Begin the installation at the first bead opposite the valve by taking care to position the bead at the bottom of the rim channel. This will make getting the last part of the bead easier to mount over the rim flange.

4. To mount in the same way for the second bead, always while starting opposite the valve and position the bead in the bottom of the rim channel. Finish the assembly at the valve.
Note: Starting at the valve restricts the bead from falling into the drop center when finishing mounting, making the job more difficult. Ending at the valve eliminates this issue. This is even more of an issue on tubeless tires due to the larger sealing head of a tubeless valve.

5. Inflate the tire to 58 psi to make sure the beads snap up onto the bead seat area of the rim. Check to make sure the tire is uniformly seated by spinning the wheel / tire and studying the area just above the rim flange and tire bead area.
Note: If the tire does not want to inflate, check to make sure the bead is positioned on either side of the valve. Also pinching the bead into the drop center all the way around the wheel can help position the tire more uniformly for easier inflation.

Demounting:Unsnap the beads all the way around the rim by pinching them towards the bottom of the rim channel. Using your hands, grasp the tire above the rim at the valve area and pull and push one bead over the flange of the rim. Then work the rest of the bead from the rim (or, using Michelin plastic tire levers with care, position one on each side of the valve approximately 10 cm or 4 inches and pry them simultaneously to pass the tire over the flange of the rim. Remove the rest of the tire by hand or work off the rim by prying every 10 cm or 4 inches with the tire lever). Extract the second bead by hand.
Note: Do not slide the tire lever around the rim and the tire to dismount the tire. This could cause damage to the bead of the tire or could affect the ability of the tire bead to seal at the rim bead area.
